Maghembe, German envoy to participate in world tourism fair hosted in Moshi

German Ambassador to Tanzania Egon Kochanke and the Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Prof Jumanne Maghembe (pictured), are among prominent figures who will take part in the International Tourism Fair which is expected to involve representatives from ten countries from across the world.

According to the managing director of Kilifair Promotions Company Limited, Dominic Shoo, the expo is meant to promote Tanzania as a tourist destination to the rest of the world.

He said the fair would be held between June 3 and June 5 at the Moshi Co-operative University (MoCU).

“Ambassador Egon and Minister Maghembe have confirmed their participation and pledged to provide full support to this important event,” he said.

African countries which are to take part in the tourism expo include Kenya, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Burundi and Ethiopia. Others will be China, India, Poland, and the UK.

Apart from showcasing tourist destinations and services offered in the industry, sector players will have the opportunity to extensively discuss business opportunities and challenges.

“It’s high time Tanzanians who are in the tourism industry use the opportunity and take part in this important event,” Shoo stressed.
Tourism is the leading sector in terms of contribution to the gross domestic product (GDP).

More than 1 million tourists visited Tanzania’s world-class tourist attractions in 2013, including Mount Kilimanjaro, the warm beaches of Zanzibar and witnessed the wildebeest migration in Serengeti, making tourism one of the strongest drivers of growth for the country
