The meeting between President Magufuli and the four heads took place at the State House in Dar es Salaam where different issues on the future of the nation were discussed.
Among heads of government institutions who met and held discussions with the president was the Controller and Auditor General (CAG), Professor Mussa Juma Assad. Dr Magufuli’s discussions with Prof Assad centred on reducing government expenditure and increasing revenue collection.
Others were the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Mr Biswalo Eutropius Mganga, the Mufti of Tanzania, Sheikh Abubakar Zuberi and CCM Parent Wing, WAZAZI Chairman, Mr Abdallah Bulembo.
A statement from the State House to media noted that aside from wishing each other New Year’s greetings, the meeting focused on discussing important issues on the future of the nation.
Prof Assad told reporters Dr Magufuli directed his office to increase revenue collection from the 14 per cent Gross Domestic Product (GDP) calculated in 2014. “Until 2014, Tanzania’s GDP was at 14 per cent compared to Kenya, which was at 19 per cent,” he noted.
On his part, the DPP, Mr Mganga, said discussions with the president centred on strategies on how the DPP’s office is supposed to work in a bid to provide services at the speed with which the president desires.
“The president also stressed on the importance of urging all Tanzanians to adhere to the laws of the nation,” he explained noting that his office will execute its duties with fairness.
Another leader who met with Dr Magufuli is Mufti Zuberi, who commended the president for his good work since assuming office, noting that he has the full support of the Muslim community in the country, which was praying for his success.
“On behalf of the Muslim community in the country, I want to tell the president that we are happy with the work he is doing so far and we urge him to continue doing so because we believe our nation will be in a good place,” he explained.
The CCM-Parent Wing Chairman commended the president for the speed at which he started implementing the ruling party’s election manifesto of 2015-2020.
“We are happy that President Magufuli has started implementing a lot of issues at high speed, one of the issues being removal of school fees. Now children will access education for free,” he explained.
